Fetal Therapy
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center is actively engaged in pioneering research to improve outcomes for fetuses diagnosed with life-threatening conditions. Our fetal therapy studies explore innovative interventions aimed at enhancing survival and long-term health. For example, the Renal Anhydramnios Fetal Therapy (RAFT) Trial, led by Dr. Russell Miller, is investigating serial amnioinfusions as a potential treatment to restore lung development in pregnancies affected by early pregnancy renal anhydramnios (EPRA). Additionally, the Gastroschisis Outcomes of Delivery (GOOD) Study, also led by Dr. Russell Miller, is evaluating the impact of early versus late-term delivery on survival and major health outcomes for infants with gastroschisis, a congenital abdominal wall defect. These studies reflect our commitment to advancing fetal medicine through cutting-edge research that informs clinical care and improves the lives of affected families.
