Specialty-Wide Standards for Ob/Gyn Residency Application and Interview

The Council on Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology (CREOG) and the Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics (APGO) recommend these specialty-wide standards for the 2025–26 obstetrics and gynecology residency application cycle. These recommendations are based on data collected over the past several interview cycles, discussions at the CREOG retreats, CREOG and APGO meetings, survey feedback from applicants and program directors, and the Right Resident, Right Program, Ready Day One (RRR) project workgroups.

Our residency program has embraced these recommendations and will adhere to the following standards:

1. Our final application deadline will be September 24, 2025
2. We will follow a common release of interview invitations on October 28, 2025
3. We have always limited interview invitations to the number of interview slots available within our program
4. Applicants will have a minimum of 48 hours to accept interview offers
5. Applicants will be informed of their final status by November 26, 2025 (invited for interview; wait-listed; or rejected)

Application

We will be accepting applications via ResidencyCas through September 24, 2025.

All applications MUST be complete for an applicant to be considered for our program. This includes all of the following:

• A completed AAMC-NRMP application for residency
• An official copy of your USMLE scores
• An official medical school transcript
• AT LEAST three letters of recommendation from faculty members familiar with your performance. With one of them being Standardized Letter of Evaluation (SLOE). This will be integrated in ResidencyCas
• Dean’s Letter                                             

Please note that we do not accept hard copies of applications.

Application Q&A

1. Application Review - This program only reviews applications from applicants who have signaled: Yes.

2. Application Updates (Before Interview Offers Are Released) - The program requests that any updates submitted after the application deadline (September 25, 2025) but before interview offers are released (October 28, 2025) be communicated by: Updating Residency CAS Directly

3. Third-Party Contact - After interview offers have been made, the program requests that faculty, medical school officials, and other proxies DO NOT contact the program to solicit additional interviews.

4. Application Updates (After Interview Offers Are Released) - The program requests that any updates to applications after interview offers are released (October 28, 2025) be communicated by: Updating Residency CAS Directly

5. Applicant Thank-You Messages - This program requests that applicants DO NOT send thank-you emails or letters to the program, residents, or interviewers.

6. Additional Communication - This program WILL NOT accept or review additional communication from faculty, medical school officials, or other proxies after interviews are complete.

7. Program Communication Policy - This program will only communicate with applicants to answer questions about the program and will not respond to other types of communication: Yes.

8. Second Look Visits - This program offers “Second Look” visits: No.

9. Letters of Intent - The program accepts Letters of Intent (LOIs) from applicants: Yes.
