U.S. News and World Report ranks NewYork-Presbyterian #4 in Gynecology nationwide
U.S. News & World Report announced their 2019-2020 hospital rankings today. NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center and Weill Cornell Medical Center ranked #4 in Gynecology service nationwide, and NYP/CUIMC and Cornell ranked #5 among all hospitals nationwide. NYP/CUIMC and Cornell were also ranked the #1 hospital in the state of New York, for the 19th year running.
"This is a truly fantastic accomplishment and a testament to the many years of consistent hard work put in by our team," said Mary D'Alton, MD, Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at NYP/CUIMC. "Without the hard work of our gynecology leadership and their clinical and admin teams, we would not have the strong programs that we have today nor the national and international standing that they have built through their many contributions to the field."
Now in their 30th year, the U.S. News rankings are the global authority in hospital rankings. Designed to assist patients and their doctors in making informed decisions about where to seek care, the rankings this year feature updated methodology in the 12 data-driven specialty rankings, which cover Cancer, Cardiology and Heart Surgery, Diabetes and Endocrinology, Ear, Nose and Throat, Gastroenterology and GI Surgery, Geriatrics, Gynecology, Nephrology, Neurology and Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Pulmonology and Lung Surgery, and Urology.
The rankings encompass a total of 25 adult specialties, procedures, and conditions, and evaluate nearly every community hospital in the country. More than 4,500 hospitals were evaluated, with 165 rankings in at least one specialty, and 569 ranking among the Best Regional Hospitals in a state or metro area. NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital is one of only 20 U.S. hospitals to be named to the 2019-2020 Best Hospitals Honor Roll, a distinction recognizing hospitals that deliver the highest quality of care.
